Redding Connecticut is located in Fairfield County. There are several restaurants and small businesses but Redding consists mainly of residential neighborhoods and horse pastures. You will find much open space and plenty of parks, ponds, and marshes as well as hiking and riding trails.

Putnam Memorial State Park
Putnam Memorial State Park was the site of the Continental Army's 1779 winter encampment under the command of General Israel Putnam. The site consists of remains of the encampment, reconstructed log buildings, and a museum. This 800-acre historic park offers hiking and biking trails, a pond, and picnic tables. More Info

Collis P. Huntington State Park
Collis P. Huntington State Park Huntington State Park is located on Sunset Hill Rd of Rt. 58 and is administered by the CT DEP Life-like sculptures of bears and wolves welcome your arrival to this peaceful and tranquil setting featuring open fields and dense woodlands. It spreads over fields and dense woodlands and includes five ponds. The park was donated to the citizens of Connecticut by the internationally renowned Huntington family. Activities include: Canoeing, Horseback Riding, Cross-Country Skiing, Mountain Biking, Hiking, and Pond Fishing.

Westport Country Playhouse
This summer-stock playhouse has offered hundreds of professional productions for 75 years. First located in a cow barn-turned-tanning factory to a rustic country theater with post-and-beam construction, the playhouse has been completely renovated. Now the playhouse is a year-round venue. The mission of Westport Country Playhouse is to transform people's lives through the power of theatre. White Barn Theatre
The White Barn Theatre was a small theater founded by actress, producer and theater impresario Lucille Lortel on the property of her estate in Norwalk, Connecticut that premiered numerous plays from major playwrights and plays that went on to successful Broadway and Off-Broadway runs.

The 9-hole "Birchwood" course at the Birchwood Country Club facility in Westport, Connecticut features 3,157 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. The course rating is 37.3 and it has a slope rating of 131. Designed by Orris Smith/(R) William F. Mitchell, the Birchwood golf course opened in 1900

Longshore Club Park Golf Course The 18-hole "Longshore" course at the Longshore Club Park Golf Course facility in Westport, Connecticut features 5,845 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 73. The course rating is 69 and it has a slope rating of 115 on Rye grass. Designed by Orrin E. Smith, the Longshore golf course opened in 1922.

Country Club of Fairfield The 18-hole "Fairfield" course at the Country Club of Fairfield facility in Fairfield, Connecticut features 6,358 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 71.6 and it has a slope rating of 133. Designed by Seth Raynor, the Fairfield golf course opened in 1914.

Silvermine Golf Club Inc The 18-hole "Silvermine 2" course at the Silvermine Golf Club Inc facility in Norwalk, Connecticut features 6,077 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 65 and it has a slope rating of 107 on Blue grass. Designed by John E. Warner, the Silvermine 2 golf course opened in 1954.

Woodstock Nature Center
Woodstock Nature Center
The Woodcock Nature Center has been a private non-profit source of nature and environmental education in Southwestern Connecticut since 1972. Located on 149 acres of state-protected land, the Woodcock Preserve includes a pond, wetlands, and 3 miles of publicly accessible woodland trails. The Center is home to a variety of living local and exotic creatures including snakes, frogs, and lizards. We also house a handful of injured birds of prey.

Historical Sites
  • Putnam Memorial State Park: Used during the Revolutionary War as a campsite. A 42 ft. memorial obelisk inside the park gates was erected in 1888 and a statue of General Israel Putnam guards the entrance.
  • Collis P. Huntington State Park: Old stomping grounds of Pootatuck Indian Chief Chickens Warrups in the 1700's.
  • Little Red Brick Schoolhouse: Built in 1789 and is one of the few brick schoolhouses in Connecticut still standing.
  • The Old Town House on the Green: built in the1700's and rebuilt in 1834.
