Redding Connecticut is located in Fairfield County. There are several restaurants and small businesses but Redding consists mainly of residential
neighborhoods and horse pastures. You will find much open space and plenty of parks, ponds,
and marshes as well as hiking and riding trails.
Putnam Memorial State Park
Putnam Memorial State Park was the site of the Continental Army's 1779 winter encampment
under the command of General Israel Putnam. The site consists of remains of the encampment,
reconstructed log buildings, and a museum.
This 800-acre historic park offers hiking and biking trails, a pond, and picnic tables.

Huntington State Park is located on Sunset Hill Rd of Rt. 58 and is administered by the CT DEP
Life-like sculptures of bears and wolves welcome your arrival to this peaceful and tranquil
setting featuring open fields and dense woodlands. It spreads over fields and dense woodlands and includes five ponds.
The park was donated to the citizens of Connecticut by the internationally renowned Huntington family.
Activities include: Canoeing, Horseback Riding, Cross-Country Skiing, Mountain Biking, Hiking,
and Pond Fishing.

The course rating is 69 and it has a slope rating of 115 on Rye grass. Designed by Orrin E. Smith, the Longshore golf course opened in 1922.
Country Club of Fairfield
The 18-hole "Fairfield" course at the Country Club of Fairfield facility in Fairfield, Connecticut features 6,358 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 71.6 and it has a slope rating of 133. Designed by Seth Raynor, the Fairfield golf course opened in 1914.
Silvermine Golf Club Inc
The 18-hole "Silvermine 2" course at the Silvermine Golf Club Inc facility in Norwalk, Connecticut features 6,077 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 65 and it has a slope rating of 107 on Blue grass. Designed by John E. Warner, the Silvermine 2 golf course opened in 1954.
Woodstock Nature Center
The Woodcock Nature Center has been a private non-profit source of nature and environmental education in Southwestern Connecticut since 1972.
Located on 149 acres of state-protected land, the Woodcock Preserve includes a pond, wetlands, and 3 miles of publicly accessible woodland trails. The Center is home to a variety of living local and exotic creatures including snakes, frogs, and lizards. We also house a handful of injured birds of prey.
Historical Sites
Putnam Memorial State Park:
Used during the Revolutionary War as a campsite. A 42 ft. memorial
obelisk inside the park gates was erected in 1888 and a statue
of General Israel Putnam guards the
entrance.

Little Red Brick Schoolhouse:
Built in 1789 and
is one of the few brick schoolhouses in Connecticut still standing.
