REDDING, CONNECTICUT

Redding Connecticut is located in Fairfield County. Redding offers its population of a little over 8,600 residents lots of land, historic and new-construction homes, and an escape from the commercial atmosphere of more crowded towns and cities.

There are several restaurants and small businesses but Redding consists mainly of residential neighborhoods and horse pastures. You will find much open space and plenty of parks, ponds, and marshes as well as hiking and riding trails.

Redding mainly offers single-family homes. You will find historic homes, colonials as well as contemporary homes. The average home price is $688,000.

In 1992 Redding Center was designated a National Register Historic District. This historic district encompasses approximately 55 acres and includes 39 historic structures and a cemetery that dates from the 18th and 19th century.

Residents are environmentally minded and keep the town's undeveloped atmosphere intact. There are several parks where you will enjoy walking trails, a pond and a preserved encampment where General Putnam's troops stayed during the winter of 1778-79. There are parks for mountain bikers, horseback riders, canoeists, dog walkers and joggers who enjoy views of meadows, ponds, pastures, and wooded areas.

Redding recently renovated the Mark Twain Public Library, originally founded with a 200-book donation from the renowned author himself, who was a Redding resident from 1908 until his death in 1910.

Redding has excellent schools. Redding Public Schools include Redding Elementary School, John Read Middle School, and Joel Barlow High School serve the Town of Redding.
