RIDGEFIELD, CONNECTICUT

Ridgefield Connecticut is located in Fairfield County. "The little town that time forgot," is an appropriate description of Ridgefield, a town that still closely attempts to hold onto its colonial heritage. As you approach the town of Ridgefield coming from Wilton you will see its Victorian and Greek Revival Mansions which line both sides of Main Street making the drive into town one of the prettiest in Fairfield County. The old fashion streets and architecture seem untouched by time.

Ridgefield offers 35 square miles of wooded, rolling hills and numerous freshwater ponds and streams. It is adjacent to the Westchester, NY border and only 52 miles northeast of New York City. Ridgefield was established in 1709, encompassing Branchville, Titicus, & Ridgebury. Today there are approximately 22,000 residents.

You'll feel far from the hustle and bustle of larger cities while enjoying the modern art galleries and state-of-the-art health facilities. As well as being a popular place for specialty and antique shops, boutiques, furniture shops and much more, it is also the home of four Town Parks and several nature preserves for outdoor activities. Some of the finest Inns in Connecticut are in Ridgefield; The Elms Inn, Stonehenge Inn, and West Lane Inn.

Ridgefield blends the future with the past with its stately Main Street homes, historic churches, and museums that chronicle the past. Ridgefield offers large grocery stores and retail chains, as well as a quaint downtown shopping district with cafes and boutiques.

The average home price is $966,000. Residents are mainly white-collar professionals who commute to Stamford, Danbury, upstate New York and New York City.

Residents have a strong sense of conservation and as a result there are plenty of parks and recreation facilities. People move to this town in order to take advantage of Ridgefield's excellent schools. Ridgefield is one of only 36 public school systems throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut that are members of the Tri-State Consortium, which includes the highest performing school systems in all three states.
